CSK middle-order batter Shivam Dube had his pockets suspiciously checked shortly after his arrival to the crease against LSG by the on-field umpire.

Turning up for his side at Lucknow in match number 19 of the IPL 2024 season, the cricketer was inspected by Anil Chaudhary at the halfway stage of the innings.

CSK’s in-form middle-order batter Shivam Dube arrived to the crease following the dismissal of Ajinkya Rahane during the ninth over of the innings against LSG. Shortly after his arrival, i.e., around the halfway stage of the CSK innings, the cricketer had his pocket suspiciously examined by on-field umpire Anil Chaudhary.

The sudden inspection bewildered many, with several fans expressing their confusion across all social media platforms.

As per speculations, the umpire checked Shivam Dube’s pockets as a precautionary measure to ensure that players are not carrying any items that could potentially alter the shape or condition of the ball.

Regardless, Shivam Dube was dismissed by Marcus Stoinis just a few moments later in the game as he walked back to the sheds for a sluggish eight-ball three. Following his dismissal, all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja sparked a sizzling half-century while Moeen Ali launched three huge sixes at the death to take CSK to 176-6 by the completion of their 20 overs.

Seasoned veteran MS Dhoni also smacked 28 unbeaten runs from just nine deliveries while opener Ajinkya Rahane charted a fluent 24-ball 36 at the top of the order.

A win for CSK at this stage of the tournament will help them soar past KKR and SRH to rise to the second spot on the IPL 2024 points table.
