Just when the Punjab Kings needed a crucial wicket to stay alive in the IPL match against Gujarat Titans, skipper Sam Curran stepped up and got the important wicket of Sai Sudharsan.

Chasing 142, it was expected that the Titans will go past the winning line with ease. However, PBKS bowlers kept on taking wickets and pushed the GT batters on the back-foot.

At one stage, the chase looked relatively easy, with Shubman Gill out in the middle. But his wicket turned the tides and GT felt the heat of it. The crucial knockout punch was given by Sam Curran, as he dismissed Sai Sudharsan for a scratchy looking 34-ball 31.

Curran gets the big fish!

The stand-in PBKS skipper bowled a length ball outside the off and Sudharsan got an inside-edge onto the stumps. The delivery was not a wicket taking ball by any means, but Curran knew the importance of it as he looked animated and was aggressive on the face of the departing batter.

Talking about the match, GT batters have crumbled like a pack of cards. Despite a decent start, they are still the second favourites to clinch the game. A win here will earn them two crucial points, which could be valuable in the race to the playoffs.
