The Emirates Cricket Board (ECB) recently announced a significant development concerning Pakistani cricketer Usman Khan, revealing that he has breached his obligations owed to the board.

As a consequence, Usman has been handed a five-year ban, effectively prohibiting him from participating in any tournaments hosted or sanctioned by the ECB.

In a press release issued by the ECB, it was stated that Usman's breach of contract led to the enforcement of the five-year ban on his involvement in cricketing activities within the country.

Following a thorough investigation, it was determined that Usman had provided misleading information to the ECB regarding his decision to represent the UAE team.

Additionally, he was found to have utilized the opportunities and resources provided by the ECB to explore alternative prospects, indicating his unwillingness to fulfill his obligations to the board or complete the necessary eligibility criteria.

“Usman is found to have breached his obligations owed to ECB and will therefore not be allowed to participate in ECB sanctioned tournaments/leagues as well as local events organized under the aegis of councils/academies in UAE for a period of five years," said ECB's statement.

Despite his ban from ECB-related activities, Usman had recently participated in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) as a foreign player and expressed his desire to represent Pakistan.

Furthermore, he was included in the fitness camp held in Kakul, Abbottabad, indicating his potential involvement in upcoming series.

As the Babar Azam-led unit prepares for the 2024 T20 World Cup in the United States of America (USA) and the West Indies, Usman's role as a middle-order batter for the Pakistani team is being considered as part of the finalization process for the squad composition.
