It was a memorable night for the Punjab Kings (PBKS) on Thursday, as they outclassed the Gujarat Titans (GT) on their home ground, winning a dramatic game largely thanks to the heroics of their uncapped Indian players, Shashank Singh and Ashutosh Sharma.

The impact of the two was so significant that it prompted PBKS star all-rounder Liam Livingstone to pen a tweet praising the swashbuckling batters.

As soon as PBKS won the match, Shashank ran towards his teammates, who were waiting to welcome him with open arms and words of praise. It was indeed a moment to celebrate as Punjab managed to pull off a run chase that seemed improbable for the majority of the innings.

Although Punjab has successfully chased down 200 runs the most number of times in IPL history, they had never won a 200+ run chase when they were cornered at 70-4, making this win even more special.

The pressure was on the middle-order with Livingstone, one of their in-form batters, sidelined due to injury. However, in his absence, Shashank and Ashutosh stepped up to lead their team to victory.

Observing the performance of the two Indian batters from afar, Livingstone was impressed and hailed the unbelievable run chase.

Not just Livingstone, but many active and former cricketers praised Shashank and Ashutosh for their special efforts with the bat.

The side kept losing wickets at regular intervals and was reeling at 111/5 when Shashank took charge of the chase. Shashank walked out to bat at No.5 and stitched crucial partnerships with Sikandar Raza and Ashutosh to help the visitors chase down the target.

Shashank played a match-winning knock of 61 off 29 balls. An innings laced with 6 fours and 4 sixes. Ashutosh, coming in as an impact player, chipped in with his cameo knock of 31 off 17 balls.
