In a shocking turn of events, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) dropped Rachin Ravindra, the emerging sensation in recent times, from their playing XI on Tuesday (April 23) in Match 39 of IPL 2024 at MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai. CSK skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad revealed the news after KL Rahul won the toss and asked them to bat first.

Gaikwad confirmed Ravindra will be replaced by Daryl Mitchell, which means they will have  Mustafizur Rahman, Matheesha Pathirana, Moeen Ali to be in the lineup as overseas.

"Nothing different, but the coin toss is something I need to work on. I've lost seven in a row I think. There will be some dew later on, but you never know how the wicket will surprise you. You just need to go out there and express yourself, if the ball is in your area they just attack it. Hoping to set the foundation up front. One change for us - Daryl (Mitchell) comes in for Rachin (Ravindra). Pretty good to have three home games, but for that we will need to win some tosses," Gaikwad said after the toss.

Ravindra made 37 and 46 in his first two games in IPL 2024. After that, he failed to make any significant impact, with scores of 2, 12, 15, 21, and 0 telling the story.

With four wins and three losses, CSK are placed fourth on the points table, having bagged eight points at an NRR of +0.529.
