Things got heated in the middle during a Indian Premier League (IPL 2024) match after Shai Hope's controversial catch at the boundary to dismiss Rajasthan Royals (RR) skipper Sanju Samson was deemed legal as a livid Samson fumed at umpires to seek an explanation.

Rajasthan Royals' daunting 222 runs chase against Delhi Capitals (DC) landed in jeopardy following the fall of openers Yashasvi Jaiswal and Jos Buttler in the powerplay.

However, captain Sanju Samson rose to the occasion to not only accelerate the innings but also rebuild from scratch alongside Riyal Parag. Samson showcased his prime form to put DC bowlers under pressure.

Meanwhile, in a dramatic turn of events, just a Sanju Samson was cruising in the chase, he was caught on the boundary ropes at long-on by Shai Hope.

Samson's timing of the big shot was a miss, and hence, the hit couldn't cross the fence. However, Hope's catch wasn't clear either. The third umpire was summoned as RR dugout was confident that Hope had touched the ropes.

However, the evidence available at the third umpire's desk was inconclusive, and the decision was ruled in the bowling side's favour, which enraged Samson.


He straight up walked to the umpire and sought an explanation in an animated chat. The RR skipper simply refused to leave the crease and seemed in complete disbelief.

On the other hand, the RR dugout was also protesting with the fourth umpire, and things got heated in the middle all of a sudden.

However, the umpires calmed Sanju Samson down and urged him to walk back as a decision was made. But a livid Sanju literally dragged himself out as his wicket was the difference maker between a win and a loss for RR against DC.
