Virat Kohli and Shubman Gill will headline the clash as the Gujarat Titans (GT) host the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in an afternoon showdown at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Sunday, April 28th. This encounter marks the fourth meeting between these two teams in the IPL, with GT securing two victories while RCB has claimed one.

Gill, often touted as the next big talent in Indian cricket after Kohli, holds immense admiration for the RCB skipper. Their previous IPL encounter was a memorable one, marked by a batting spectacle that saw both Kohli and Gill smashing centuries. Notably, it was Gill's century that propelled GT to victory on that occasion.

When RCB met GT in 2023

In their last face-off on May 21, 2023, GT emerged victorious over RCB with a convincing six-wicket win at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. After being set a challenging target of 198 runs, the Titans chased it down with five balls to spare, courtesy of Gill's stellar unbeaten knock of 104 runs off just 52 deliveries, which included 5 boundaries and 8 sixes.

GT scored 51 runs in the powerplay and lost only Wriddhiman Saha during that phase. Vijay Shankar, coming in at number three, struggled to find his rhythm but stuck around while Gill maintained his consistency.

Shankar played some aggressive strokes against Vijaykumar Vyshak before falling victim to the same bowler. Although RCB managed to dismiss Dasun Shanaka and David Miller, Gill continued to dominate, guiding GT towards victory with a well-paced innings that culminated in a century.

Kohli's hundred not enough for victory

Bangalore's batting revolved around Virat Kohli, who notched up his seventh century in the cash-rich League, setting a new record. Despite a strong start with 62 runs in the powerplay without losing any wickets, RCB suffered a horrific collapse.

Kohli steadied the innings with partnerships of 47 runs with Michael Bracewell and an unbeaten 64-run stand with Anuj Rawat, guiding his team close to the 200-run mark, which eventually wasn’t a match-winning total.
