As the IPL 2024 season progresses, talks about the upcoming T20 World Cup intensify. With the squad announcement deadline on May 1st, former players and experts are actively speculating about the 15-player Indian squad for the tournament in the USA and the West Indies. 

Joining the discussion, former India cricketer Harbhajan Singh has recently unveiled his India squad for India for the upcoming prestigious global event.

Surprisingly, the Turbanator has omitted Hardik Pandya and Mohammed Siraj from his squad, opting instead for the in-form Shivam Dube, Avesh Khan and Mayank Yadav. 

This decision may raise eyebrows among fans, especially considering Pandya and Siraj's previous contributions. Additionally, GT skipper Shubman Gill finds himself left out of the squad.

India's premier fast-bowling all-rounder, Hardik Pandya, has faced challenges, particularly with his performance for MI this season. 

Despite walking in as a key finisher, his strike rate stands at 142.45, relatively low for his role, and he has scored just 151 runs in eight matches. Similarly, Siraj has struggled, managing only five wickets in seven games.


Chahal, Mayank included in Harbhajan's WC squad

Harbhajan's squad selections mostly followed the expected choices, but his inclusion of Yuzvendra Chahal has raised eyebrows.

In the batting lineup, Harbhajan opted for Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal as openers, with Virat Kohli and Suryakumar Yadav following at no. 3 and 4, respectively.

For wicketkeeping duties, Rishabh Pant and Sanju Samson made the cut, while Rinku Singh and Shivam Dube were selected as finishers.

In the bowling department, Harbhajan went with a total of seven players, including premier all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja.

His frontline spinners are Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal, while Jasprit Bumrah, Avesh Khan, and Arshdeep Singh fill the pace bowling slots alongside Mayank.
