The 17th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2024) has picked up pace. The tournament is 37 matches old, which is precisely the halfway stage. We have seen some memorable performances by various players. But which of these performers have been the most impactful and thus found their way into the Team of IPL at the halfway stage? 

Openers

Jos Buttler (Rajasthan Royals) ✈️

It has not been one of the best seasons for the English opener. However, Jos Buttler has played a couple of impactful centuries. His centuries have come in the second innings under pressure and in winning causes. There might be discussions of why Abhishek Sharma is not in the opening slot. The reason is that Jos Buttler scored two brilliant hundreds under pressure in the second innings, while Abhishek Sharma gave some excellent starts to his team but failed to convert them into anything significant.

Travis Head (Sunrisers Hyderabad)✈️

The Australian opener has been decimating bowling line-ups in IPL 2024. Travis Head has become a threat to the bowlers. Head has scored a century and a couple of half-centuries while maintaining a strike rate of 216. The dynamic starts that he is providing have made SRH dream of a 300-plus total in this tournament.


Middle Order

Sanju Samson (Rajasthan Royals) (Captain)

Rajasthan Royals are doing a great job as a team in IPL 2024. They have won six of their seven games and have nearly confirmed their qualification into the playoffs. They are currently at the top of the points table, and one of the prime reasons for their dominance has been the form of their skipper, Sanju Samson. He has shown great maturity in IPL 2024 and, in most cases, has built on the starts he has gotten. Samson has also led RR well and has been selected as the captain for this unit. 

Riyan Parag (Rajasthan Royals)

Along with Sanju Samson, Riyan Parag has been another reason for RR's success this season. IPL 2024 has been a breakthrough season for Parag. He is showing great temperament, maturity, and composure in this tournament. Parag has been superbly consistent in playing impactful knocks under pressure and thus finds a way into this unit.

Shivam Dube (Chennai Super Kings)

Shivam Dube has had the most significant impact in this tournament as a batter in the middle overs. He has looked like a complete player, and his presence has forced the captains of the opposition to keep the spinners away from the bowling crease. The way Dube is dominating the spinners in IPL 2024, you cannot ignore him for the team of the tournament. 

Dinesh Karthik (Royal Challengers Bengaluru) (Wicket Keeper)

Matches: 8 Runs: 251 Avg: 62.75 Strike Rate: 196.09

The veteran Indian wicketkeeper has been in excellent form in this tournament. However, it is disheartening that Dinesh Karthik's beautiful knocks have ended on the losing side. He has been one of the best finishers in the tournament, with a strike rate of 196.09 and an average of 62.75. 

Shashank Singh (Punjab Kings)

Matches: 8 Runs: 195 Avg: 48.75 Strike Rate: 168.10

Punjab Kings have been one of the most disappointing teams in IPL 2024. Their top order has seldom contributed, and the pressure has been on the lower-middle order. Shashank Singh has responded to the crisis and emerged as the saviour for his team on more than a couple of occasions. Singh will be a perfect addition to this unit. 


Bowlers

It has been a reincarnation of Sunil Narine, the batter in IPL 2024. Although his success has come in the opening spot, we are keeping him in the lower order to add flexibility and dynamism to this unit's batting and bowling.  

Matheesha Pathirana (Chennai Super Kings)✈️

This young Sri Lankan bowler is doing an excellent job for CSK in IPL 2024. Matheesha Pathirana has changed the complexion of a couple of games with his death over exploits. With the wicket-taking form that Pathirana is in, there is no way he will miss out in this team.

Jasprit Bumrah (Mumbai Indians)

The Indian superstar is doing great with the ball in IPL 2024. Jasprit Bumrah has picked up 13 wickets in the season and is currently the highest wicket-taker in the league. Bumrah has shown efficiency in all phases of the game, making him this team's prime bowler. 

Yuzvendra Chahal (Rajasthan Royals)

Matches: 7 Wickets: 12 Economy Rate: 8.34 Avg: 18.08

The Indian wrist spinner has not been at his best this season. However, Yuzvendra Chahal has been the best spinner in the league. As a leading spinner, he deserves a spot on the team of the tournament.
