The Women's Premier League is an exciting new avenue for women's cricket in India, offering a platform for female players to exhibit their prowess in the T20 format. One of the standout moments of the WPL 2024 auction was when Kashvee Gautam made history by becoming the most expensive uncapped player ever. The young player, who has been making waves in the domestic cricket scene, was bought by Gujarat Giants for INR 2 crore. Phoebe Litchfield was the first player to go under the hammer, and the talented Australian was quickly snapped up by the Giants for INR 1 crore. 

Another player who attracted a lot of attention at the auction was Annabel Sutherland. The Australian all-rounder was one of the joint-most expensive players in the auction, fetching INR 2 crore from Delhi Capitals.

The WPL 2024 action is scheduled to start on February 23, 2024. The first match will be between the reigning champions Mumbai Indians and the Delhi Capitals at the M.Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. Five teams, with 18 players in each squad, will compete at the WPL 2024.
