Renowned Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag delivered a scathing remark towards Punjab Kings (PBKS) during his commentary in the ongoing 2024 Indian Premier League (IPL), saying that his IPL numbers deteriorated during his two-year stint with the franchise.

Known for his no nonsense attitude, Sehwag further went on to mock the franchise's lack of IPL trophy wins. He joined the Punjab franchise, formerly known as Kings XI Punjab, from 2014 to 2015, following a six-year stint with Delhi Daredevils.

While commentating in Hindi for IPL 2024, Sehwag playfully roasted Punjab Kings for their lack of wins, poking fun at their trophy drought in the league. He then joked about his own strike rate taking a hit during his time with the team, blaming it on the vibes there.

"Jab mein Punjab mein gaya tab mera strike rate kam ho gaya. Woh kehte hai na ke jaisi sangati waisa behave karte ho. Toh waha ki sangati waisi hi thi. Jeet te the nahi, khel te acha the nahi, toh mera game aur thoda kharab ho gaya,” Sehwag said on Star Sports.

Throughout his six IPL seasons with Delhi, Sehwag notched up 2174 runs at a strike rate of 160, including 14 half-centuries and a century. Upon his move to Punjab in 2014, he had a stellar season, amassing 455 runs at a strike rate of 144.44, with the Kings XI Punjab even making it to the final.

However, the subsequent season saw the former Indian opener hitting a rough patch as he scored only 99 runs in eight matches before bowing out of the league. His overall strike rate with Punjab stood at 136.
