Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) secured a significant victory by a margin of 28 runs at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium over Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), earning them two crucial points in IPL 2024.

This win was a testament to the impressive performances from Quinton De Kock and Nicholas Pooran, as well as the stellar bowling by Mayank Yadav, who broke the back of RCB's batting lineup.

After the game, KL Rahul, the skipper of LSG, shared the challenging conditions they faced when they were batting first in this encounter. The opener's strategic approach, taking his time and staying in the centre for long, ensured they did not lose wickets quickly on this not-so-easy wicket to score big.

Rahul further advocated that 180 on this ground was not the par score, but they still managed to clinch a victory with some decent bowling.

"Yeah, I enjoyed it out there. It's always a tough job batting first here in Chinnaswamy. 180 would be usually not enough. You never know what's enough here. Because it held up a touch and bounced as well, 180 was a par score. I couldn't play freely. It made my batting a bit difficult. I had to control the innings and bat for longer. We lost wickets at bad times, so I had to bat longer,"

The captain lauded the performance of Mayank Yadav, who bowled an exceptional four-over spell, taking three wickets for just 14 runs. Rahul compared his bowling to rockets, with his speed touching 155 kilometres per hour, emphasizing the impact of his performance on the game.

"We are glad to have him (Mayank Yadav) on our team. He's bowling rockets at the moment, keeping things simple. Youngsters bowling express pace can get caught up in trying different things,"

Moving on the topic of Nicholas Pooran's glitzy innings of 40 runs from just 21 balls with as many as five sixes at a strike rate of 190, the right-hander straight-up declared that this is the reason why he is paid big bucks.

"That's why he (Nicholas Pooran) is paid big bucks, I guess (on Pooran's hitting)."

After this wonderful victory, the LSG brigade have climbed up to the fourth position on the table with two wins from as many as three games. This promising start sets a positive tone for their upcoming match against the Gujarat Titans on April 7 in Lucknow.
