KL Rahul's Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) showcased their prowess as they defeated Faf du Plessis' Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) at their home by 28 runs.

The dynamic duo of Quinton de Kock and Nicholas Pooran displayed their batting skills, while the lightning-fast Mayank Yadav's pace proved to be a game-changer, rattling the RCB batting lineup with three crucial wickets in the middle.

RCB skipper Faf du Plessis lamented the two dropped catches of Quinton de Kock and Nicholas Pooran, which he believed were the turning point of the match. De Kock went on to score 81 and Pooran remained unbeaten at 40, a significant contribution to LSG's total.

Faf du Plessis praised Mayank Yadav for his destructive bowling, which saw him dismiss Rajat Patidar, Glenn Maxwell, and Cameron Green. The RCB skipper acknowledged the difficulty of facing a pacer of Mayank's speed, especially with a new action, and commended his control of lengths.

“Yeah. Spot on. Two good players. Quinton de Kock was on 20 or 25 and Nicky P on two and we dropped them. 60-65 extra runs and in IPL, mistakes like these can cost you. Initially, for any young pacer to come through, to face them with a new action, it takes some time for the batters to adjust to see how the ball comes out. I was impressed with his pace. But what’s more impressing is his control of lengths. That’s hard to get with extra pace."

However, the RCB skipper was not moved by his side's bowling effort as they conceded too many runs in the powerplay which made it difficult for them to make a comeback.

Adding more, the right-hander was also not very apprehensive of the side's batting ability, as he mentioned that they need strong characters to chase a total like this.

"I think we were not good in bowling. We were poor in the powerplay. We gave too many loose balls in their strong areas. Glenn Maxwell brought back really well. In the death overs, we did well to restrict them. But while chasing, you need partnerships. That’s basic. Disappointing that we didn’t get it with the bat and we need some strong characters in the dressing room to chase it down."

With one win in four games, RCB are currently placed ninth on the table with just two points. Their next challenge will be to face off against Rajasthan Royals on 6th April in Jaipur, a crucial match that could potentially turn their season around.
