It turned out to be another disastrous night for Mumbai Indians (MI) and its skipper, Hardik Pandya, who faced their third consecutive defeat of the season and this time in a humiliating fashion against Rajasthan Royals (RR) in Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai.

The match started with Rajasthan Royals (RR) pacer Trent Boult wreaking havoc with his line, length, and swing, scalping three wickets at the start. Then, continued support from Nandre Burger and Yuzvendra Chahal reduced MI to just 125/9 after the end of their 20 overs.

In reply, Rajasthan finished the game inside the 16th over, with Riyan Parag smashing a fine fifty on a tough batting surface.

Speaking after the game, MI skipper Hardik Pandya labelled it as a tough night but still believes that his side can turn things around in the upcoming games. Adding further about the loss, he thought that anything above 150 would have been a defendable total, but his wicket, in particular, fell at the wrong time as they lost momentum from thereon.

“Obviously, didn’t start as we would have liked with the bat. Tough night. I think we were in a decent position to give ourself a chance to get to 150-160. But my wicket gave them a chance to get back in the game and my wicket was crucial."

Moreover, Hardik mentioned that pitches like these are crucial for the game as they give bowlers something, especially in this format. The all-rounder stated that he has seen tougher days, but with some determination, they can still make it through.

"It’s good to have for the bowlers as well. This game is cruel for the bowlers but I’m not against these types of pitches. I mean absolutely. It’s about doing the right things. Sometimes it happen. Sometimes it doesn’t. Have seen worst days than these. But I’m confident in the group that we will come back stronger. Just that we need to show some discipline and show some courage.”

After this loss, Mumbai will next feature against Delhi Capitals on 7th April at the same venue.
