Recently, Delhi Capitals' (DC) Director of Cricket, Sourav Ganguly was asked about the likeliness of Rishabh Pant making it to the India squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup. Ganguly has made it clear that he would be able to judge Pant's chances of seeing Pant for another week.

The DC captain has scored 152 runs in 4 innings so far while scoring two fifties against Chennai Super Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders.

Rishabh, who survived a potentially fatal accident in December 2022, has worked hard and made a recovery ahead of the expected time. Meanwhile, he also missed out on the home Border-Gavaskar trophy and the ODI World Cup 2023.

"If the national selectors want him, I should be able to judge in another week about Rishabh's chances of playing in the T20 World Cup," Ganguly told the press.

Thanks to Pant's hard work during the rehabilitation, and the help of medical staff and trainers, the 26-year-old has neither shown signs of discomfort behind nor in front of the wicket.

Ganguly has also asked for some patience from fans and experts and to let the southpaw play more without worrying about his World Cup chances. He wants his captain to have a smooth and easy return to the competitive cricket.

Pant, who last represented India just before his accident in December 2022 against Bangladesh in a Test, will be facing stiff competition from the likes of Jitesh Sharma, who currently looks like the front runner for the first choice wicketkeeper's role and Sanju Samson, who has also been around the squad and is doing well in the given opportunities.

India, who are in the same group as Ireland, Pakistan, USA and Canada in the World Cup will kick-start their campaign against Ireland on June 5, in Nassau County International Cricket Stadium, New York.
