The team selection for the T20 World Cup 2024 is just around a week away and there have been endless reports and speculations on how the Indian squad will shape up. Shubman Gill's spot in the preliminary team is a big point of debate for the fans and pundits.

The opener, in a recent interview, has opened up about what he feels about the situation and how he would react if he isn't picked up.

While talking to Sports Tak recently, Gill was asked about what he feels about the rumours and reports regarding his spot being in danger despite consistent performances, he said that he will happily cheer for the team even if he doesn't get into the squad.

"When my selection is being discussed, I think if even scoring 900 runs in the last IPL is not enough to get picked, I'll cheer for the players who make it into the team and wish them the best," Shubman Gill commented.

On being asked to keep a smile on his face post the selection by the interviewer, the Gujarat Titans captain asserted that he would have a smile regardless of getting into the side or not.

Shubman Gill has so far scored 304 runs in nine games of the ongoing season of the Indian Premier League while striking at 146.15. As mentioned by him, he also scored 890 runs in the 17 innings of last season with a strike rate of 158.

The selection panel of Ajit Agarkar and co. is expected to meet for the selection of India's squad by the end of April.
