'Head Is Going To Explode... Can't Play At 70%' - Du Plessis On Thrashing From SRH

Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) yet again, faltered by 25 runs at home as their bowling got absolutely battered by the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) batters, who came to Chinnaswamy and broke their own record of highest IPL score in an innings which they had set against Mumbai earlier this season.

SRH scored a mammoth 287/3 courtesy of a very well-rounded batting performance. RCB went hard to chase it as captain Faf du Plessis' 62 (28) and a wonder innings of 83 (35) by Dinesh Karthik but eventually fell short by 25 runs.

In the post-match captain's talk, du Plessis reflected on how the pitch acted in the game after calling it a "slow wicket" at the toss, saying it a proper T20 wicket, how much should've been par and how they batted on it.

"Yeah, much better [than what they thought]. A proper T20 wicket, a crazy amount of runs were scored today. Credit to us for trying and getting close towards the end but I wouldn't say 270 was par," the RCB captain said.

About how the bowling would re-group after a couple of humiliations, the RCB skipper admitted about bowlers being low on confidence and how the game is becoming batter-friendly these days.

On their batting performance in such a huge run chase, du Plessis added how they need to fix some errors and batting post-powerplay.

"We felt like there were some errors we need to address as a batting line-up. We have done pretty well in the powerplay but we need to work on the dipping run-rate after the powerplay as a batting unit and make sure that we keep going. The game has evolved with the scores the teams are putting up. So, proud of boys not giving up right till the end."

Talking about the chances of making it to playoffs after 5 losses and how they will rejuvenate, the 39-year-old admitted this is an uphill task at the moment.

"Yeah, one thing is very important, you need to go away and freshen your mind. This is such a mental game. Sometimes, with back-to-back defeats like this, it feels like your mind is going to explode. So, it is important just to get away from it and make sure to show full commitment and 100% fight for the next challenge. It's an uphill task at the moment and we can't play at 70%."

RCB will next visit Kolkata to face Kolkata Knight Riders after 5 days of rest and look to turn their fortunes on Sunday afternoon.
