In a high-scoring thriller, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) clinched a comprehensive 25-run victory over Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Match 30 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 on Monday.

The game was a veritable feast of runs, with SRH setting a new IPL record by posting a gigantic score of 287/3. This was thanks in large part to Travis Head, who hit a dazzling 102, and Heinrich Klaasen, who contributed a rapid 67.

In the chase, RCB gave it all but fell short, despite spirited innings from Virat Kohli, Faf Du Plessi and Dinesh Karthik, who blazed away to 83 off 35 balls.

Here’s the timeline of how RCB vs SRH panned out in Bengaluru-

RCB vs SRH Highlights: Head and Sharma Set the Stage

From the get-go, SRH's opening batters, Head and Abhishek Sharma, came out all guns blazing after being put in to bat first.

The duo unleashed a barrage of boundaries, turning the powerplay into a spectacular show. They stitched together a whirlwind 76-run partnership in the first six overs, setting a blistering pace for the innings.

Abhishek Sharma, though eventually dismissed for 34 runs from 22 balls, played a crucial role in laying a solid foundation.

RCB vs SRH Highlights: Head and Klaasen Bring The House Down

Following the fall of the first wicket, Head found a new ally in Heinrich Klaasen, and together they kept the pedal to the metal. Head, unfazed by the departure of his opening partner, continued to dominate the bowlers, cruising to a magnificent century.

His innings, filled with powerful strikes and exquisite timing, came to an end when he was finally outsmarted by Lockie Ferguson for 102 runs.

Not to be outdone, Klaasen switched to beast mode, launching an all-out attack that left the fielders mere spectators.

RCB vs SRH Highlights: Markram and Samad Seal the Deal

Markram played an impactful knock, adding an unbeaten 32 from 17 deliveries. Meanwhile, Abdul Samad unleashed havoc in the closing overs, smashing 37 runs off just 10 balls.

His breathtaking display of power-hitting helped SRH not only surpass their previous highest total but also set a new benchmark in IPL history with a staggering 287/3.

RCB vs SRH Highlights: Explosive Start and Mid-Innings Meltdown

Chasing a staggering target of 288 runs, RCB openers, Faf du Plessis and Virat Kohli, hit the ground running, determined to make a dent in the monumental total. They began their innings with a flourish, scoring 79 off the first six overs.

However, the momentum took a hit just after the powerplay concluded as Kohli, looking in fine form, was sent back to the pavilion. This triggered a disastrous collapse for RCB, who lost four crucial wickets in quick succession over the next four overs.

RCB vs SRH Highlights: Karthik’s Lone Battle in a Losing Cause

As the innings progressed, Dinesh Karthik stepped up to the crease with his team in a dismal position. What followed was a masterclass in innovative batting as Karthik unleashed an array of shots, scoring a breathtaking 87 off just 37 balls.

His spectacular effort was a mix of classic cricket strokes and inventive improvisations, giving RCB a glimmer of hope. Unfortunately for Karthik and his team, consistent support from the other end was conspicuously absent.

Despite his heroic efforts, RCB could only muster a total of 262 by the end of their 20 overs and fell short by 25 runs. This marked their fifth consecutive defeat, leaving them to wallow at the bottom of the standings.
