On Saturday, 13th of April, Punjab Kings suffered another heartbreaking loss in IPL 2024 as the home team ended up losing on the penultimate ball of the match. It was a typical PBKS-RR game where it went down to the wire, before Hetmyer unveiled his finishing skills and took RR over the line.

Sam Curran was the captain of Punjab Kings in the absence of Shikhar Dhawan and bowled quite well, picking two wickets in the 19th over to take the match to the final over. It was not enough though for PBKS and the captain was naturally a disappointed man when he delivered his post-match comments.

The Englishman stated that the wicket was slow and they did not start well with the bat, He, however, was pleased with the way they finished with the bat and was proud of the way they fought till the end in the second innings.

“The wicket was slightly slower. We didn’t start well with the bat but managed to finish it well. It was a really good effort from the lower-order guys to get us to that total. We just stuck in it and managed to get that close with wickets but disappointed to finish on the losing side."

Sam Curran was hopeful of PBKS making a comeback in the next game and added that they have played good cricket and T20s are games of short margins, so they try to do their process right and not worry about the results.

"We would have loved a few more runs. We bowled well and fielder well but really enjoyed it and will look to bounce back in the next game.I guess three games is a hard way to see at it and adapt to the conditions. But we won the first game here and lost the next two. Small margins in T20 cricket is not much to think about and we will look to bounce back."

Punjab Kings will next go up against Mumbai Indians on 18th of April at their new home ground in Mullanpur again, and would be hoping to start winning consistently from hereon.
