Suresh Raina, a legendary figure in the IPL and a beloved Chinna Thala for the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) fans, had a rough time during the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 season. With the COVID-19 pandemic looming, Raina joined the CSK squad in their journey to the UAE.

However, just before the IPL was set to begin, Raina had to abruptly leave the team and return home.

This unexpected exit from IPL sparked many rumors about the reasons behind his departure. Now, Raina put an end to the half truths, revealing the truth behind his sudden return and putting an end to the speculation.

Raina revealed  that he had to go back to his family because some of his close relatives were killed by gangsters. He wanted to be with his family during this tough time, so he had to leave the Chennai Super Kings team just before the 2020 IPL season started.

"There was bereavement in the family, I went to Punjab. In my uncle's family, there were deaths. The kaccha gang..who come with oil on their body. A group of gangsters killed the entire family, my grandmother was also there. It happened in Pathankot. So I went there."

"There was a bio-bubble in the IPL, where you couldn't return. My father was very upset. When the Kachche gang did what they did, my entire family was in stress. I thought cricket came next, I could play anytime, first, my family was important," Raina told Lallantop.

Even after going through a tough time, Raina made a strong comeback in 2021 and won the IPL once more. He never gave up and fought back just like he always does.
