Riyan Parag pounded successive match-winning half-centuries against Delhi Capitals and Mumbai Indians this IPL 2024 season. The young Rajasthan Royals batter has so far tallied 185 runs across four innings and even seized the coveted ‘Orange Cap’ from all-time great Virat Kohli at one stage of the tournament earlier this month.

The prodigious batting talent also had a stellar Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2023 season for Assam last year, where he finished with over 500 runs in the competition at an average of 85.

As Riyan Parag continues to make giant strides in competitive cricket, he recently earned a huge praise from Australia’s two-time World Cup winning bowler Brad Hogg.

Hogg hails Riyan Parag for keeping ‘ego in control’

In a recent podcast, former Australian spinner Brad Hogg hailed Riyan Parag for his steady rise as a reliable T20 batter, courtesy of his splendid run in IPL 2024 for the Rajasthan Royals.

The cricketer-turned-commentator also acknowledged an evident change in Parag’s attitude, claiming that the youngster played with uncontrollable “ego” last season. Hogg is of the opinion that the 22-year-old has finally learned to keep his team’s interest above himself. The legendary Australian spinner said:

“I love his energy and I love the way he fields. I think he has really matured this year. Last year, I guess he had a bit of a strut on him. I don’t say this disrespectfully but I think he had a bit of ego last year. The ego is still there but it is in control. He believes in himself and he is now more worried about what he can do for the team rather than trying to seal his place in the team.”

Riyan Parag along with the rest of his Rajasthan Royals teammates will now face Gujarat Titans in match number 24 of the IPL 2024 season.

The much-awaited contest will be staged at Jaipur’s Sawai Mansingh Stadium on April 10.
