'Chhati Thoke Ke Kehta Hun...': Navjot Sidhu's Big Claim On Kohli’s Controversial Dismissal Vs KKR

RCB veteran Virat Kohli was declared out under controversial circumstances during his team’s away IPL 2024 clash against the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). Opening the innings for RCB alongside captain Faf du Plessis, Kohli smacked a boundary and two sixes before he was caught-and-bowled by Harshit Rana.

The ball, however, seemingly came at an awkward height to Kohli, with many alleging it to be a no-ball delivery. As it turned out, television replays indicated it to be a fair delivery, thus prompting the RCB opener to make his way back to the sheds. The cricketer was not happy with the decision and he made his displeasure known by arguing with the on-field umpire before storming off the field.

As the entire cricketing spectrum continues to debate over the legality of Virat Kohli’s dismissal, former cricketer and active commentator Navjot Singh Sidhu has now boldly given his take over the matter.

Navjot Singh Sidhu says Virat Kohli was not out

Cricketer-turned-commentator Navjot Singh Sidhu believes RCB opener Virat Kohli was wrongly declared out by the on-field and television umpires at Kolkata’s Eden Gardens on April 21. While speaking on Sportstar, he said:

“Chhati Thok ke keheta hu Kohli not out tha."

Prior to his dismissal, Virat Kohli had smacked a couple of huge sixes to race to a rapid six-ball 18* at the end of the first two overs of the RCB innings. Following his early dismissal, captain Faf du Plessis also followed suite before Will Jacks and Rajat Patidar clubbed dazzling half-centuries in the middle order.

Earlier in the match, KKR formed 222-6 from 20 overs upfront off the back of Phil Salt’s 14-ball 48 and captain Shreyas Iyer’s scintillating half-century. Lower-order batter Ramandeep Singh also produced 24 unbeaten runs from just nine balls at the death.
