India have had mixed fortunes in 2022. They have done well as a unit in the bilaterals, but have failed to produce the results in multi-nation tournaments. In the recently concluded T20 World Cup, India had a shock exit at the hands of England in the semis.

As a result, Team India faced severe backlash from the fans. There were very few positives to take from the World Cup, and one of them was India's new rising star, Arshdeep Singh.

The left-arm pacer bagged 10 wickets in his debut World Cup tournament and garnered praise from the cricketing fraternity.

His bowling has impressed the former Aussie pacer Brett Lee, who calls Arshdeep his favourite left-arm pacer from India.

Brett Lee opines

"We go back to only few months back when Jasprit Bumrah was ruled out of the T20 World Cup. Everyone thought huge shoes to be fill, and rightly so. He is a superstar of the game with his world-class yorkers. He is a three format player for India. But as they say, one man's absence is another man's opportunity to shine.

And this young man Arshdeep, he is playing his first-ever World Cup event, on the big stage, he shows what he's made of. He is my new favourite left-arm pacer from India," Lee said on his YouTube channel.

Arshdeep continued his rich vein of form against New Zealand in the T20I series, wherein he picked up 4 wickets in 2 matches.
