RCB defeated Gujarat Giants earlier in the WPL 2024 season (BCCI)

Winless Gujarat Giants will be facing the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) unit in match number 13 of the ongoing WPL 2024 season on March 6. Their much-awaited faceoff marks the first respective outing for both sides in the Delhi leg of the tournament.

Gujarat Giants Women’s team, under the leadership of Beth Mooney, is yet to secure a single win this season despite featuring in four league fixtures so far. 

Currently placed at the bottom of the five-team WPL 2024 points table, the Giants need to win each of their remaining three matches with emphatic margins to entertain any chances of securing a playoffs berth.

None of the Gujarat Giants batters, including star attractions Beth Mooney, Phoebe Litchfield and Ashleigh Gardner have managed to make any impact for the franchise off late. 

Moreover, even the bowling department, sans Tanuja Kanwar, have managed to deliver any crucial breakthroughs.

While talented Indian fast bowler Meghna Singh has claimed five wickets out of her four WPL 2024 games so far, she seized four of those in a single innings against Delhi Capitals in her most recent outing.

The RCB Women, on the other hand, are placed at number three on the WPL 2024 points table with three wins to their credit. 

Captain Smriti Mandhana has ably led her side from the front, and is currently occupying the top slot in the run-scoring charts. Moreover, her teammate and opening partner Sabbhineni Meghana is placed at second on the table with 164 runs to her name.

Ellyse Perry and Richa Ghosh have also clubbed over 100 runs each from the ends to make timely contributions for the team. 

Much like their batters, RCB’s bowling department is also working efficiently like a well-oiled unit, courtesy of some of their leading wicket-takers Asha Sobhana, Sophie Molineux and Sophie Devine.
