In a shocking development, Lucknow Super Giants have dropped Shamar Joseph for their IPL 2024 fixture against Chennai Super Kings, taking place at Ekana Cricket Stadium, Lucknow. 

The 24-year-old pacer from West Indies, who impressed with the ball against KKR in their previous match, has been sidelined, making way for Matt Henry.

In addition, Rahul won five tosses on the trot, becoming the first captain to achieve the feat in the competition’s history earlier on Friday. The stylish wicket-keeper batter asked CSK to bat first before confirming Joseph’s absence news.

Notably, LSG did not make any other changes except the one mentioned above. CSK, on the other hand, brought Moeen Ali back considering the familiar spin-friendly conditions. 

The Yellow Army also recalled Deepak Chahar, who was sidelined for a couple of matches due to injury concerns. He replaced Shardul Thakur, who has been drafted as one of the impact substitutes alongside 20-year-old sensation Sameer Rizvi.

Having won four out of six matches, CSK are third on the points table, only behind Rajasthan Royals and Kolkata Knight Riders. LSG, on the other hand, are fifth on the table, with three wins and as many defeats.
