Veteran Indian batter KL Rahul had a tremendous day with the bat, hammering a breezy fifty in Lucknow Super Giants' ninth group-stage match against Rajasthan Royals at the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow. However, the elegant batter missed out on a well-deserved ton, being dismissed for 76 by Avesh Khan. 

Interestingly, Rahul had taken on Avesh Khan earlier in the innings, having smashed him for a few maximums. Avesh eventually got his revenge, dismissing the stylish batter in the backend of the innings. 

The incident took place during the 18th over of LSG's innings when Rahul was going berserk at one end. 

RR skipper Sanju Samson's call to bring Avesh back into the attack worked wonders for the inaugural champions, with the pacer getting the prized scalp of Rahul. 

After conceding a brace in the first delivery, Avesh bowled a short ball, which Rahul slashed with hard hands. However, unfortunately for LSG, he couldn't clear the fence, with Trent Boult taking a stunning low catch to end his stay. 

After Rahul departed, all-rounder Krunal Pandya joined Ayush Badoni in the middle. As of writing, the hosts were aiming for a fitting finish, placed at 188 for five in 19.1 overs.
