The fortunes of the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) franchise dwindled further as in-form batter Nitish Kumar Reddy was knocked over by visiting RCB spinner Karn Sharma amidst a huge run-chase at Hyderabad’s Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium.

Turning up for his team in match number 41 of the IPL 2024 season, Reddy started with aggressive intent, considering the 20-year-old launched Swapnil Singh’s full-toss delivery for a huge six down the ground.

However, amidst tumbling wickets at the other end, the pressure of a burgeoning asking rate eventually got the better of him against Sharma.

Nitish Kumar Reddy, fresh from his match-winning scores of 64 and 37 against Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals respectively, failed to sustain his IPL 2024 form against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) franchise at Hyderabad on April 25.

Batting at number four and arriving to the crease inside the opening powerplay, the 20-year-old stroked his way to a run-a-ball 13 before he was castled by RCB’s leg-spinner Karn Sharma

Reddy’s dismissal further worsened SRH’s run-chase troubles at 69-5 as they faced another roadblock against RCB’s monumental 206-run total.

Earlier in the match, the RCB franchise charted 206-7 from their 20 overs off the back of Virat Kohli’s fluent 43-ball 51 and Rajat Patidar’s thunderous 20-ball half-century.

Captain Faf du Plessis also belted a 12-ball 25 at the top of the order while death-overs batters Cameron Green, Dinesh Karthik and Swapnil Singh all conjured valiant contributions in the backend of the innings.

Among the SRH bowlers, Ranji Trophy veteran Jaydev Unadkat struck thrice in his spell all while conceding just 30 runs off his four overs.

Impact Player T Natarajan also seized two wickets while skipper Pat Cummins and Mayank Markande chipped in with a wicket each, albeit in expensive spells.
