Rajasthan Royal's captain Sanju Samson had a mixed day on the field, as he committed a couple of fielding blunders in his side's ongoing IPL 2024 face-off against Punjab Kings. 

Although he executed a sensational run out to stun Liam Livingstone, his poor judgement prevented the Royals from getting the prized scalp of Ashutosh Sharma. 

The incident occurred during the 19th over of Punjab's innings when Ashutosh and Harpreet Brar were trying to ensure a fitting finish for the hosts. 

Coming to bowl his last over, Avesh Khan outfoxed Ashutosh with his pace, as the batter went for a wild slog only to top-edge the ball. 

The ball went straight up in the air as both Samson and Avesh ran to catch it. However, as the ball was closer to Avesh, it was his catch, not Samson's. 

But unfortunately for the Royals, the miscommunication between the two cricketers led to their deadly collision, with Samson dropping the catch and falling onto the ground. 

After the Royals' skipper missed the chance, Avesh kept reminding him of his blunder, citing it was his catch and he would've grabbed it easily. 

Riding on the lifeline, Ashutosh played another impressive knock, powering the Kings to a respectable 147-run total through a blistering 16-ball 31.
