Jitesh Sharma — like other Punjab Kings (PBKS) batters — kneeled against the Rajasthan Royals (RR) in Match 27 of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2024) at Mullanpur.

The PBKS vice-captaincy played a cautious hand - 29 runs off 24 balls - before handing an easy dismissal to Avesh Khan as he tried breaking free against the Royals but ended up playing one too many strokes.

Arriving at the crease at 47-3, the 30-year-old initially played a steady hand when wickets kept falling from the other hand. However, with Liam Livingstone at the other end, Jitesh decided to cut loose.

He smacked two maximums - the first against Yuzi Chahal and then spooned Kuldeep Sen. However, Avesh got the better of the Indian international.

Avesh peppered things against the PBKS keeper with a hard-length delivery bowled outside the off-stump line. Jitesh tried smashing a lofted shot off the backfoot over mid-off, but the ball went from the meat of the blade; Riyan Parag took an easy catch at mid-off.

Interestingly, before Jitesh's dismissal, the duo had a minor altercation as the batter wasn't happy with the bowler not giving him a breather. However, no major drama occurred as Avesh took it in fine spirits.

Nevertheless, Punjab ended their innings with a total of 147-8 on Saturday, giving the table-toppers a target of 148 runs.
