The Delhi Capitals are batting first in the 40th game of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2024). After being invited to bat first, the Capitals were in trouble when Sandeep Warrier dismissed their top three. In a surprise move, DC promoted Axar Patel to number three in the batting line-up. 

After Shai Hope's departure, DC skipper Rishabh Pant joined Axar Patel in the middle, and their score was 44/3 in 5.4 overs. The duo had stitched a partnership of 36 runs when left-arm wrist spinner Noor Ahmad was introduced into the attack. 

Saha's mistakes proves costly

The Afghan spinner induced a false stroke from Pant and beat him on the flight. The ball took the inside edge and went to the keeper. It was a clear chance for Wriddhiman Saha to latch onto the ball and dislodge the bails to send Pant back to the hut. 

However, Wriddhiman Saha failed to collect the ball, and Rishabh Pant survived. The DC skipper added salt to GT's injury when he launched the next delivery over the mid-wicket fence for a maximum. The chance had already cost the Titans 31 runs, and it could hurt them even more if Pant goes to play a big one.

At the moment, the Pant-Axar partnership is taking the GT bowlers to the cleaners. Axar has reaches his fifty and Pant also reached the landmark with a colossal six.
