Ageing warhorse MS Dhoni made his way out to bat for the first time this IPL 2024 season during CSK’s high-profile away clash against Delhi Capitals.

Batting at number eight and arriving to the crease following the dismissal of Shivam Dube at 120-6, Dhoni bashed three sixes and four boundaries during his enterprising 16-ball 37* to take CSK to 171 by the completion of their 20 overs.

As it turned out, Dhoni’s arrival to the middle was met with a thunderous roar from the crowd, as fans erupted in excitement witnessing the vintage display of his power hitting spectacle. Moreover, Indian actress and social media influencer Ayesha Khan was also in attendance at the ACA–VDCA Cricket Stadium, who vocally expressed her excitement over Dhoni’s highly-awaited return to batsmanship.

Former Big Boss contestant Ayesha Khan was spotted cheering for MS Dhoni as the latter was smacking across all corners of the Vizag stadium.

The innings marked MS Dhoni’s first in competitive cricket in nearly a year, considering he did not walk out to bat in CSK’s initial two games of the ongoing IPL 2024 season.

Making the most of his rare opportunity, the 42-year-old whacked 37 unbeaten runs from just 16 balls to take CSK to 171 alongside Ravindra Jadea. However, his whirlwind knock made little difference to Delhi Capitals’ juggernaut as Rishabh Pant and co. ended up securing a 20-run win in the game.

MS Dhoni along with the rest of his CSK teammates will now turn up against Sunrisers Hyderabad on April 5 in Hyderabad.
