MS Dhoni gave CSK fans much to celebrate even though the team slumped to their first defeat of the IPL 2024 season against Delhi Capitals on March 31.

The former CSK captain, batting for the first time in nearly a year, clubbed an enterprising 16-ball 37* to take his team to 171 by the completion of their 20 overs. MS Dhoni’s wife Sakshi celebrated the occasion by sharing a hysterical story on her Instagram account. Praising her husband for his blistering innings, Sakshi also welcomed comeback man and Delhi Capitals skipper Rishabh Pant from his 15-month long absence from competitive cricket.

Shortly after CSK’s 20-run defeat to Delhi Capitals at Vizag, Sakshi Dhoni took to Instagram and shared a hysterical post on her story involving MS Dhoni’s whirlwind knock in the game.

Pretending to be lost amidst Dhoni’s six-hitting frenzy, Sakshi jokingly wrote that she did not even realize about CSK’s defeat. Moreover, she also welcomed Delhi Capitals skipper Rishabh Pant back into the field, owing to his recent recovery from the near-fatal car accident he sustained back in December 2022.

Earlier in the match, Delhi Capitals formed a competitive 191-5 from their 20 overs off the back of half-centuries from David Warner and captain Rishabh Pant.

CSK’s run-chase response never got going as they slipped to 120-6 in 16.1 overs. With MS Dhoni arriving to the crease for the first time this IPL 2024 season, his team required another 71 runs from just the remaining 23 deliveries of the innings.

Dhoni ended up whacking four boundaries and three sixes to finish at 37* from 16 balls to keep CSK’s defeat margin down to 20 runs. Despite their defeat, the defending champions still occupy among the top four slots on the IPL 2024 points table.
