England’s fast bowling ace Jofra Archer intensified his preparations for the upcoming T20 World Cup while representing Wildey in the BCA T20 Cup Championship in Barbados. In the semi-final match against Carlton on Saturday, May 4, the right-arm speedster showed his class, finishing with impressive figures of 3 for 16.

Since clinching the World Cup with England in 2019, Archer has grappled with injuries and last participated competitively in May 2023.

Archer had been absent from international cricket for nearly two years before making a comeback, featuring in four ODIs and three T20Is between January and March 2023.

Despite his challenges, England have named him in their squad as they aim to retain their T20 World Cup title. Archer’s stellar performance of three for 16 paved the way for a 33-run victory, propelling Wildey into the final of the Barbados Cricket Association’s T20 Cup. However, he will depart soon after the tournament concludes.

One of Archer’s wickets went viral, capturing a moment when a Carlton batter attempted to chop him through point but lost his off stump, sending it cartwheeling out of the ground. This footage has garnered attention across social media platforms.

In the first innings, Archer also showcased his batting prowess, smashing an unbeaten 54 runs from just 20 balls, including five sixes, guiding his team to a formidable total of 191 for six against Carlton. This marked his third consecutive half-century.

Archer will soon return home to commence his World Cup preparations in earnest during the Pakistan series, beginning at Headingley on May 22.

The Pakistan series will serve as a crucial platform for Archer to fine-tune his skills ahead of England's title defence in the Caribbean, beginning on June 4 against Scotland in Barbados.
