[Watch] Ishan Kishan Greets RR's Keshav Maharaj With 'Jai Shree Ram' Chant

Mumbai Indians wicketkeeper-batter Ishan Kishan shared a friendly conversation with Rajasthan Royals’ South African import Keshav Maharaj prior to their Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 faceoff on April 22 at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium.

During their brief interaction, Kishan even greeted Maharaj with an age-old Hindu chant of ‘Jai Shree Ram’ (Glory to Lord Ram).

MI slumped to a nine-wicket larruping at the hands of hosts Rajasthan Royals at Jaipur on April 22. A day prior to their IPL 2024 clash, Mumbai Indians wicketkeeper Ishan Kishan caught up with South African national Keshav Maharaj during a training session.

Kishan, standing alongside Yuzvendra Chahal, asked Keshav whether he was familiar with the Hindi language. Just as the South African spinner gleefully acknowledged the same, the Mumbai Indians stumper responded with the age-old Hindu chant of ‘Jai Shree Ram’.

One can speculate that Ishan Kishan greeted Keshav Maharaj with the popular expression to celebrate the occasion of the Ram Navami festival, considering the revered event took place just a couple of days prior to their meetup.

Keshav Maharaj, one of the few Hindu cricketers to have represented the South African cricket team, often attends numerous temples and religious places whenever he is on national duty or for IPL commitments in India.

Ishan Kishan, on the other hand, will now be seen reprising his role for the Mumbai Indians franchise in their subsequent IPL 2024 challenge against Delhi Capitals. The two sides will be locking horns on April 27 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium.
