ILT20 secure the services of over 50 international cricketers in first sign-on

The UAE-based International League T20 (ILT20) has announced the names of over 50 cricketers who have signed on to participate in the inaugural edition of the tournament. 

The much-anticipated ILT20 is slated to be played in January 2023 across the venues like Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah. 

None of the players from the nations like Bangladesh, India and Pakistan marks their presence on the list. Furthermore, swashbuckling batter Chris Lynn is the only Australian player in the mix. 

The Pakistan cricketers were not granted NOCs by the PCB to feature in the league, while Australia's home-grown Big Bash League will also be played during the same month. 

The likes of Moeen Ali, Andre Russell and Sunil Narine are a few of the marquee players on the coveted list.

ILT20 Chairman delighted with the developments

Khalid Al Zarooni, Chairman of UAE ILT20 League has revealed that the franchises will soon use their Direct Acquisition rights to acquire the players. He also announced that each team will comprise 18 players, with a minimum of four from UAE and two from ICC Associate Countries. 

The six franchise owners of the league are, Reliance Industries, Kolkata Knight Riders, Capri Global, GMR, Lancer Capital and Adani Sportsline. 

“Over the past weeks, ILT20’s six franchises have started discussions and engaged with players, and players’ agents, to exercise their ‘Direct Acquisition’ rights, and we are extremely delighted to be in a position today to announce the first set of players who will compete in UAE’s Inaugural (T20) League," said ILT20 Chairman.
