BCCI releases schedule for 2022-23 domestic season

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the schedule of India's 2022-23 domestic season on Monday (August 8). 

A total of over 1500 matches will take place across all the formats from September 2022 to March 2023. The six-team Duleep Trophy will mark the beginning of the upcoming season, slated to be played from 8 to 25 September. 

Furthermore, Irani Cup will be staged for the first time after the 2018-19 season. Afterwards, the prestigious tournaments like Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and Vijay Hazare Trophy are scheduled in October-November, which will witness the participation of 38 teams. 


Ranji Trophy 2022-23 to take place from December to February

The coveted Ranji Trophy will commence on 13 December and run till 20 February. There will be two categories: Elite and Plate. The Elite category will comprise of 32 teams, which will be split equally into four groups. The top two teams from each group will qualify for the quarter-finals. 

The Plate will consist of six teams, with the top four earning a chance to seal the semi-finals spot. 

The 2021/22 edition of the Ranji Trophy saw Madhya Pradesh securing the title after winning against Mumbai by six wickets. 


Women's domestic schedule to kick-off from October

The domestic schedule for Women's cricket will commence with the Senior Women’s T20 Trophy taking place from 11 October till November 5. Then, the Senior Women’s Interzonal T20 and T20 Challenger will take place in the penultimate month of the year.

In January-February, the women cricketers will be involved in the tournaments like Senior Women’s One-day Trophy and the Inter-zonal one-day. 

To prepare young cricketers for the U19 Women’s T20 World Cup in January, the Women’s U19 T20 Trophy and Women’s U19 T20 Challenger will be conducted in October-November.
