Australia begins its conquest of India next year when they tour the Asian country for a five-Test series in February and March. Much like previous tours, their batting remains a big question and their ability to tackle spinners.

Australia's batting unit revolves around Steve Smith, Marnus Labuschagne, and David Warner, while others find it rather tricky to adapt to spinning tracks. While the likes of Travis Head, Glenn Maxwell, and Alex Carey remain in forays, middle-order batters like Matthew Renshaw and Peter Handscomb could find themselves on the flight to India.

Renshaw toured India during the 2017 tour, where he amassed 232 runs, but failed to make a return trip the following year. Handscomb, who scored 198 runs across the 2017 tour,  managed just 105 runs in the 2018 series.

Both subsequently lost their places in the Australian set-up after a string of low scores.

The 31-year-old Handscomb has since scored heaps of runs in the Sheffield Shield for Victoria and most recently registered a record-breaking 281 against Western Australia last week.

Meanwhile, Renshaw stake claim of the opening position, after remarkable outings for Queensland in absence of regular opener Usman Khawaja.

According to a report in The Age,  another player who could find a place in the squad is off-spinner Todd Murray. Murray impressed one-and-all during Sri Lanka 'A' series in July.
