Chennai Super Kings (CSK) batter, Devon Conway has been ruled out of the IPL 2024 due to an injury.

The Kiwi opener suffered a fractured on his left thumb and was expected to make his comeback in the second half of IPL. However, the injury turned out to be serious and as a result, Conway was ruled out of the tournament.

As a result, CSK have signed England pacer, Richard Gleeson for his base price of INR 50 lakh.

Conway ruled out, replacement announced

Conway has been one of the best batters for CSK in the last two seasons. The Southpaw has played 23 matches for the current IPL champions and has racked up 924 runs, including 9 half-centuries.

He was also instrumental in CSK’s fifth IPL title, contributing heavily in the run-chase against the Gujarat Titans in the finals. His replacement, Gleeson has represented England in 6 T20Is and has picked up 9 wickets. The right-arm pacer has also played in 90 T20 matches, picking up 101 wickets.

Gleeson is also signed from a long-term perspective. Mustafizur Rahman will fly back to Bangladesh at the end of the month. As a result, CSK will only be left with a solitary foreign pacer in the form of Matheesha Pathirana.

The Super Kings are in the third position in the points table, with 4 wins and 2 losses. They will next play against the Lucknow Super Giants on Friday.
