Bangladesh has been ravaged by constant injuries in the last few months and to make things further nastier, their star wicket-keeper batter Nurul Hasan has officially ruled out of the Asia Cup 2022 with a finger injury.

The 28-year-old suffered the injury in the second T20I of the three-match series against Zimbabwe and was ruled out of the remaining series due to the same.

Hasan, who is currently in Singapore recently underwent surgery and as per BCB chief physician Debashish Chowdhury, he will take around four to five weeks of rest to make it to the field again.

"A closed reduction and pinning procedure was performed on Sohan’s left index finger by hand surgeon Dr Anthony Foo at the Raffles Hospital this afternoon. Recovery is estimated at three to four weeks,” BCB chief physician Debashish Chowdhury said in a statement as quoted by Cricbuzz.

Hasan has enjoyed an imperious run of form in recent times after his comeback to the national side. He was also named the skipper of Bangladesh for the Zimbabwe T20Is until the injury pushed him out.

Injury woes continue to haunt Bangladesh

Earlier, Litton Das suffered a hamstring injury during the first ODI against Zimbabwe in Harare and has also been ruled out for the remainder of the series. His availability in the Asia Cup 2022 is also under scanner.

Apart from Litton Das, Mustafizur Rahman (ankle), Mushfiqur Rahim (thumb), and Shoriful Islam (knee) are the other players who currently mark their presence in the injury count of Bangladesh.

Meanwhile, Yasir Ali and Mohammad Saifuddin, who were ruled out from the tour of Zimbabwe, will also have to clear the fitness test to get considered for selection in the showpiece tournament.

Due to several injury concerns of players, the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) provided an extension to Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) to finalize their Asia Cup squad.

The usual deadline for announcing the squad for the other participating teams is on August 8 but Bangladesh Cricket Board requested the ACC to extend their time as they are awaiting medical reports of several players.
