Wasim Akram lauded experienced Islamabad United allrounder Imad Wasim's match-winning blitz in the Eliminator 2 clash of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) against the Peshawar Zalmi in Karachi on Saturday (March 16). 

The Pakistan fast-bowling legend heaped effusive praise on United's valiant hero for playing a terrific innings of 59* off 40 deliveries and taking his team under immense pressure at the National Stadium with a place in the PSL 2024 final on the line.

Chasing an imposing target of 186, United were left in a precarious spot, having lost five wickets for 91 in the 11th over with a defeat seeming certain for the side. However, Imad combined brilliantly with talented No.7 Haider Ali and transformed the game completely in an excellent partnership. 

Wasim Akram Praises Imad Wasim After PSL Heroics 

While Ali played the more aggressive of the two with his enterprising knock of 52* from just 29 deliveries, Imad showed great composure in the manner in which he batted throughout his sensible and measured innings, having earlier walked in deep strife at 21/3 inside the powerplay.

"When Imad Wasim came out to bat in such a situation, it can be a bit confusing, but he was totally calm. Look at his body language, it was a dangerous sign for Peshawar when he started," Wasim said on A Sports.

Imad was also one of United's safer bowling options for the night and delivered an influential spell of 0/23 off his 4 overs even as the rest were taken for plenty. He earned the most deserved 'Player of the Match' trophy for his performance.
