Virat Kohli couldn't help his emotions and elation as Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) finally lifted a trophy in the final of the Women's Premier League (WPL) in Delhi on Sunday (March 17).

The former RCB men's skipper joined the franchise's reigning women's captain Smriti Mandhana on a video call after her troops scripted history by clinching their maiden WPL crown and the first overall in RCB's 16-year-old existence.

Kohli, who had made a heartening congratulatory post on Instagram immediately after RCB won against the Delhi Capitals (DC) in the WPL 2024 final, also made it a point to connect via a video phone call with Mandhana and her winning juggernaut.

Mandhana Reveals Kohli's Words On Congratulatory Call

Speaking after team's magnificent allround victory at the Feroz Shah Kotla ground, Mandhana revealed she couldn't hear what Kohli was saying because of the huge roars from a healthy crowd present at the historic venue but could sense the India and RCB batting legend was extremely happy.

"I didn't hear anything what Virat (Kohli) bhaiya was saying because the crowds were too loud. He looked really really happy. He has been part of this franchise in the last 16-17 years so I could see that happiness on his face," Mandhana said.

Kohli has been passionately involved in RCB's journey since the IPL's inaugural edition back in 2008, but the coveted trophy has continued to elude him.

RCB women's team's victory is thus expected to act as a source of great motivation and inspiration for the men's team when they kickstart their fresh campaign in IPL 2024, starting March 22.

The men's RCB team begin their new season with a bout against defending champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK).
