The Indian team for the upcoming series against Australia have been announced and KL Rahul will be leading the side for the first two ODIs. Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Hardik Pandya and Kuldeep Yadav are rested for the first two games.

Team India will be playing the three-match series starting from 22nd September and the senior players will be joining in the final ODI which will be played on the 27th September. Considering the fact that modifications can be made until the 28th of September in the World Cup squads, India have named two reserves for the World Cup team.

Axar Patel is likely to get fit by the final ODI and if he can't recover on time then one of Ravichandran Ashwin and Washington Sundar will replace him in the World Cup squad. Rohit Sharma in the press conference said that they will not be able to build the bench strength if they will keep playing the same eleven in every game.

Here's what Rohit Sharma said while addressing press:

"We try our best to play everyone we pick in the squad. We won't be able to build the bench strength if we keep playing the same XI. There are 11 matches in the World Cup, so we've to take a note of that."

Rohit further added that despite the Asia Cup win they will be neutral and also mentioned that the atmosphere in the team is good.

"Every game we play is important. We have to be neutral despite the Asia Cup win - atmosphere in the team is so good, now our focus is on the World Cup."

Before the World Cup 2023, India are scheduled to play the five-time Champions Australia in a three-match ODI series, starting from Friday at Mohali.
