In a compelling plea to bolster Pakistan's cricket squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024, Shadab Khan, captain of Islamabad United and a key figure in Pakistan's cricketing landscape has passionately advocated for the return of seasoned all-rounder Imad Wasim to the national team.

During a recent post-match press conference, Shadab Khan revealed his efforts to dissuade Imad from retiring from international cricket, emphasizing the indispensable role the veteran player could play in Pakistan's campaign.

"I want to; in fact, I told Imad that I didn't want him to go when he made his decision. Because players like him are what Pakistan needs. Pakistan definitely needs him given his performance and CPL experience, and with the World Cup quickly approaching", Shadab asserted, highlighting Imad's invaluable contributions to the squad.

Imad Wasim's standout performances in the ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2024 have reignited fervent discussions about his potential return to the national setup.

His key role in Islamabad United's recent triumph over Peshawar Zalmi in the PSL 2024 eliminator showcased his unwavering dedication and hunger on the field.

Partnering with Haider Ali, Imad orchestrated a record-breaking seventh-wicket partnership, propelling his team into the tournament final with an unbeaten knock of 59 runs off 40 balls, embellished with nine boundaries.

Despite announcing his retirement in November last year, Imad's stellar display in the PSL 2024, where he amassed 392 runs in 11 innings, coupled with two match-winning performances in the knockout stages, has fueled speculations about his potential return to the Pakistan squad for the T20 World Cup 2024.
