While almost all Indian batters have looked in good touch ahead of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023, the form is all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja is worrying. Jadeja, who bats in the lower-middle order, has managed just 189 runs in 12 ODIs this year and last scored a fifty in the format at home back in 2013.

The 34-year-old forms a crucial cog in the batting unit for India, wherein playing the all-rounder accommodates an extra batter in the XI. However, despite all the chatter around Jadeja's rut with the bat, former India captain Sunil Gavaskar has backed the all-rounder to come good in the upcoming World Cup.

Speaking to Hindustan Times, the cricketer-turned-commentator explained the importance of Jadeja in the middle, apart from just his batting, a trait which helps other batters as well.

Here's what Gavaskar said

"Not really. With the kind of experience that he has, it's not a worry. The important thing is that he is such a fast runner between the wicket. Often, we overlook it… the fact that from the non-striker end, he helps the batter covert ones into twos. So, I think those are the little things that are important. So yeah, I am not worries after Ravindra Jadeja at all. He is a top player, a wonderful player… rockstar, like Shane Warne once said."

Jadeja will look to gain some form in India's second warm-up against the Netherlands, which takes place today at Thiruvananthapuram.

Rohit Sharma and Co. will begin their World Cup 2023 campaign against Australia on October 8 in Chennai.
