Chennai Super Kings (CSK) head coach Stephen Fleming showered rich praise on new recruit Rachin Ravindra for his impressive performance with the bat during his debut match against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB).

Fleming's praise comes ahead of CSK's upcoming match against the Gujarat Titans (GT) in Chennai on Tuesday, March 26.

Ravindra marked his IPL debut last Friday against RCB. Partnering with skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad at the top of the order, the 24-year-old batter outshone his captain, smashing a rapid 37 runs off just 15 balls to provide a blazing start to the team

Ravindra's impressive batting performance garnered praise from various quarters, including CSK's head coach Stephen Fleming. The former New Zealand skipper noted that Ravindra displayed commendable composure and delivered an encouraging performance with the bat.

"And that was just the case with Rachin. He played very well. There's nerves around, there's a lot of nerves in the first game, even from some of the seasoned players. So, to be able to put a performance like that was really encouraging," said Stephen Fleming in the pre-match press-conference.

Reflecting on Ravindra's future role with the ball, Fleming mentioned the possibility of him contributing with the ball in Chennai, given the favourable pitch conditions.

"There's a possibility. Conditions are favorable at the moment, and his bowling is indeed an asset for the team," concluded the 50-year-old coach.

The finalists of the previous season will clash for the first time since their last encounter, which ended with Chennai Super Kings securing a narrow victory against the Gujarat Titans at the Narendra Modi Stadium.

This time, the match will be held at the defending champions' home ground, the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.

Both teams enter the contest on the back of victories in their opening fixtures.
