Shreyanka Patil steered RCB’s bowling attack in this WPL 2024 towards their first-ever trophy by defeating season’s table-toppers Delhi Capitals in the high-octane final. The right-arm spinner collected four wickets in the title clash, finishing with astonishing figures of 4-12 to keep Meg Lanning and co. down at 113.

Patil’s match-winning spell also extended her tournament tally to 13 scalps, thus helping her surpass spin colleague Asha Sobhana to win the coveted purple cap.

The young Indian player, who has repeatedly cited Virat Kohli as her cricketing hero in the past, also got a chance to catch up with her idol at RCB’s 2024 Unbox Event at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium on March 19.

Patil, along with the rest of her teammates, was felicitated at RCB’s annual Unbox event on March 19 for winning the WPL 2024 trophy. The 21-year-old cricketer also took this opportunity to catch up with her ‘idol’ and RCB’s perennial legend Virat Kohli.

Shreyanka shared a picture of her brief union with Kohli on her social media accounts with a heartfelt caption that signified the senior cricketer’s influence on her. The WPL 2024 winner tweeted:

“Started watching cricket cos of him. Grew up dreaming to be like him. And last night, had the moment of my life. Virat said, ‘Hi Shreyanka, well bowled.’ He actually knows my name.”

With the women’s team sealing the WPL 2024 trophy, RCB stalwart Virat Kohli has now expressed his hope of ‘doubling it up’ by winning the forthcoming IPL 2024 title.

The 35-year-old was recently spotted honing his skills through an intense nets training session at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium.

Kohli is set to mark his return to competitive cricket, after opting himself out of India’s five-match Test series against England citing personal reasons.

Virat Kohli is on course to appear for RCB in their opening IPL 2024 match against defending champions CSK on March 22. Their much-awaited stalemate will be staged at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
