In the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 season, Sunrisers Hyderabad's (SRH) dynamic opening duo of Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma has been spotlighted by acclaimed commentator Aakash Chopra as the most formidable partnership.

As SRH prepares to clash with Punjab Kings (PBKS) on April 9 in Mullanpur, all eyes are on whether Abhishek Sharma will continue to open alongside the Australian left-hander Travis Head, especially with Mayank Agarwal's potential return hanging in balance.

Aakash Chopra, in a recent YouTube video, emphasised the significant impact of Head and Sharma at the top of the order for SRH.

"I am picking the opening combination of Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma. So the opening pair are my players in focus. Ek aur ek gyarah hi ho gaye hain (One plus one has become 11). Both start hitting. If they get one or two lives at the start, they take full advantage of that and thrash you," Chopra explained, warning Punjab Kings of the threat posed by the duo.

With Abhishek Sharma amassing 161 runs at a striking rate of 217.56 and Travis Head gathering 112 runs at a rate of 180.64, their contributions have been pivotal in SRH's performances this season.

Chopra also highlighted the challenge they pose to opponents, "You don't get thrashed as much in a laundry bay. So be wary of them."

Earlier, Chopra had lauded SRH captain Pat Cummins for leading the team to victory over Chennai Super Kings (CSK).

Additionally, the 23-year-old Sharma, who has been in exceptional form, credited Indian legend Yuvraj Singh for his improved performance, signalling a bright future for the young left-handed batter in IPL 2024.
