India legend, Yuvraj Singh has made a compelling argument against the inclusion of Abhishek Sharma in the T20 World Cup 2024 squad, despite the young cricketer's impressive performance in the IPL.

His stance highlights the importance of experience and consistency at the international level, factors which he believes Abhishek Sharma may still be lacking. Interestingly, Yuvraj Singh has trained Sharma in his younger days.

Abhishek Sharma's stellar performance in the IPL has undoubtedly caught the eye of many cricket enthusiasts, but Yuvraj Singh, drawing from his own extensive experience in the game, emphasizes the need for caution when considering young talents for major tournaments like the T20 World Cup.

Here's what he said:

"Abhishek is almost there but I don't think he is ready for the World Cup right now," he told Cricbuzz.

"For the World Cup, we have to take an experienced side. Obviously some guys have played for India. After the World Cup, he should be prepared to play for India. That is what he should focus on. Coming six months will be very important for Abhishek," Yuvraj said.

While acknowledging Abhishek's talent and potential, Yuvraj points out that the World Cup demands a squad comprised of seasoned players who have proven themselves on the international stage.

He suggests that Abhishek should focus on further honing his skills and gaining more experience in domestic and possibly international cricket before being considered for such a significant tournament.

Yuvraj also emphasizes the importance of consistent big performances, noting that while Abhishek has shown flashes of brilliance with his high strike rate, he needs to convert those starts into substantial scores to truly establish himself as a contender for the national team.
