Heading into the marquee ICC T20 World Cup, hosts Australia are facing problems, with middle-order batter Glenn Maxwell struggling to find form. Maxwell, known for his explosive and innovative batting style, sees the Australian batters revolve around him.

The 33-year-old has managed to score just 16 runs in his last six T20Is, which spells doom heading into the tournament. The defending champions' batting is already thin, with Aaron Finch and Steve Smith grappling to find runs.

Maxwell will have the likes of Marcus Stoinis, Mitchell Marsh, and Tim David as support, but his impact could change the course of the match anytime.

Australian fast bowler Josh Hazlewood, however, has backed Maxwell to come good and urged his Royal Challengers Bangalore teammate to play with more freedom.

Hazlewood on Maxwell

"He’s the sort of a player that just reacts to what’s coming and plays his game and that’s the one thing you want from Glenn all the time. So I think he just (needs a) free mindset and (to) play his game,"  as quoted by indianexpress.

Hazlewood maintained that Maxwell's utility across the board is unparalleled, and he is a vital cog in Australia's success in the global event.

Maxwell will next be seen playing the third and final T20I against England on Friday.
