England batter Alex Hales is hopeful of a fruitful T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia. The cricketer is drawing comfort from his stellar BBL record, by saying that he has proven himself in the Australian conditions.

Hales recently made a comeback into the English side, after a gap of more than three years. The right-hander was discarded from the team prior to the 2019 World Cup at home after failing at a recreational drugs test.

Since his comeback, the 33-year-old has starred in England’s back-to-back series wins in Pakistan and Australia, and is now looking in good stead for the showpiece event.

Alex Hales expresses confidence for T20 World Cup 2022

Alex Hales has piled up 1,857 runs across 60 BBL matches at a staggering average of 151.34. Reflecting on his stellar record in the Australian league, the cricketer said:

“It is just nice knowing I have proved myself in these conditions.”

The Englishman added that he is confident of bouncing back at any stage in the tournament, if he fails to get going straightaway. Hales stated that he is looking to enjoy England’s T20 World Cup 2022 campaign in Australia, because he did not expect to get a chance for his country again.

“I know if things don’t happen for me straight away, I have the game and record to bounce back at any point in the tournament. My biggest thing is I just want to enjoy it. It is a chance I didn’t think I would get again. I will play with a smile and hopefully perform as well.”
